I stopped at McDonalds tonight after stopping at the Liquor store (did you know there’s now a beer out by Molson called “Kick”? It has Guianna in it - as in caffeine!!!). They did their usual crappy job of serving me. I can’t believe that I dont’ learn! I know that I should stop shopping there and get the same product, only better and COMPLETE, a mile up the road (but its so much out of the way!). I thought that I was clear. I asked for two cheeseburgers with none of their yucky pickles or gross minced crapola onions (its actually to make them do it fresh and HOT) and a small fries for Ange and I also got the 3 chicken strips meal for myself. I asked for Coke with no ice and ketchup for my fries along with honey mustard sauce for the chicken. The girl who took the order entered it into the cash register properly. It all rang onto the screen by the order mike. So, I zipped the car around the corner and waited around 8 minutes to get to the first window to pay. She took my $12 (people used to complain that the roadhouse I worked at charged too much for the food - for $12 you could feed 4 people there!) for the two small meals. Then, I waited (in the drive through, remember) another 5ish minutes to get to the second window and get my food. So, what happened to the Coke? The ketchup? The sauce for the chicken? Silly me! I actually TRUSTED the McCrappolds employee to do their job! What was I thinking? It must be the tumour…
So I saw “Million Dollar Baby” and “Immortel” tonight. Both were good movies. MDB was about a female boxer who had a rise to fame anda shot at a title match. I won’t get into the plot too much because the IMDB does a great job of that. There are some big names there. Hilary Swank plays the boxer and Clint Eastwood plays her “manager”. Morgan Freeman also has a big role in the film, as he narrates a lot of it. He’s also Eastwood’s foil int his movie. I recommend it to anyone, whether you’re a boxing fan or not. This story isn’t really about boxing. Its more about how people who don’t fit in find a place in the world after all.
Immortel (ad vitam) was a totally different movie. It had a strange and futuristic story, which was woven with a CGI twist. There are a lot of “no fun” types who criticized the CGI effects in the movie as being “terrible”. They can shove their opinions up their own asses. This film was entertaining from beginning to end. It was a bit far fetched and it many of the characters weren’t human. Big deal! It began as a copy of a comic book and, in my opinion, was one of the most comic, cartoonistic movies I’ve seen. If you like Science Fantasy novels, you’ll appreciate this film. If you have no sense of imagination, you will pick apart the CGI and look like a dweeb who can’t escape reality once in a while. Take yer pick. I chose to escape. What fun!
A big hello, by the way, to all who ventured over to my silly spot on the net from my friend John’s site. Welcome to the place where I’m right
Actually, the title of this entry has nothing to do with the content, but I was curious as to how the adsense bots picked their categories to show ads for. By the way, feel free to click them and see what amazing products and services are out there for your pleasure
So, the talk of the FOSS community is Bill Gates’ keynote speech at CES. Of course, it wasn’t the commentary, but more the glitches and BSODs that occurred. Bill chuckled it off. I saw an interview with him after (on a PBS station) and he wa quite personable as usual. He gave Apple credit for making that silly iPod so bloody popular. he’s right, it will make more people aware of digital music. I don’t know about spending $500 for a player that might stop working the first time it gets dropped, though. I think I’d invest in a flash-based player rather than a hard drive based one. But what can I say? I can’t afford either right now, so I’ll just use my record player and fire up the 78’s (just kidding - I haven’t had a record player for years). I usually listen to shoutcast or xiph via streamtuner and VLC player (I did use the default xmms until it decided that it didn’t really want to tune in - what the hell, VLC’s better anyways!). For those windows users who don’t know what the hell I just said, I also use Winamp 5 and listen to shoutcast stations that way too.
For those of you who have kids that you allow near your computer, how many keyboards have you gone through? I’m curious. I’ve been through 5 on this machine alone. Sometimes it was just something spilled one too many times. Sometimes it was pure abuse. My 3 year old daughter has a habit of smashing her fists on it when she doesn’t get her way. They’re some smart at that age, though. She can click away with the best of them - better than most adults, actually. Well, I’ve had enough of this one tonight (spacebar is working part time for full pay). Cheers!
