[photopress:cutecalebinbed.JPG,thumb,pp_image]So, the weather network is decrying bad things, like a 30cm snow/ice-fall warning. What wacky weather we’ve had this month. Its bee -30°C and +10°C. Today was -26°C and tomorrow is supposed to be around 0C. But, tonight, its supposed to start snowing and not stop.

Will schools be canceled? I’m taking bets (not for money). I’m saying no for now. I’ll update at 5-6am

“Always keep your kisses in your hand. Then it will go up your arm and into your heart!”

-Abigail Thompson (2007)
(spoken after I gave her a kiss on the back of a hand, as to a princess)

Abby scratched this drawing out for me in just a few minutes on a note pad. I couldn’t keep it to myself.

She did this standing up with the note pad in her hand.

After trying something different with the layout of my site, I’ve decided that for now, the idea will have to mature some more.  One of the things that I noticed with the way that I was presenting the “loop” in my theme was that specific views like categories or search results would only show the first post, so I have to explore what I am doing to the Wordpress loop a bit more before unleashing it on the world again.  This doesn’t mean that I won’t soon.  It just means that my test run brought some unexpected results.  Thanks for being my guinea pigs.  I’ll have to get on it so Deliciously Maple can relive.

I don’t know why, but I have liked Abby’s cat drawings so much and she loves to include one now and then (its usually supposed to be our cat).

Kitty Kitty

Now, look at that. Isn’t that cute?

DeerI wish that I had a camera with me tonight. This cute beast is not a pic that I took, but if I had taken a camera with me to the drug store down the road, I could have had pictures that would have made this one look “just okay.” On the walk back, in the fairly dense residential North Side, I came upon two deer. The first one surprised me a bit, being on the walking path in front of me and seemingly fearless. I continued approaching her and she merely stared. I thought that she wasn’t going to move. I didn’t really relish the idea of getting a slash from her hoof if she decided to get scared “a little too late.” She did decide that I was not the best friend she could have and moved off the trail. This was when I noticed her larger “sister.” This one had to be the biggest doe that I’ve ever seen. She was merely watching me walk by from her vantage point in the back parking lot of a local machine shop. It caught me aback a bit, seeing these deer so close to such a busy street as Main. I guess that they usually go down to the river and find their way back to the woods from there. It still amazes me that they don’t meet their maker with the way people drive around here.

I was thinking this morning (actually yesterday morning) about some of the cute things that kids mispronounce.  I recall my mother telling me that I used to call the delicious orange drink made from powder “Makey Juicy”, because I always wanted her to make more.  That powder was Co-op orange crystals, not Tang, cos it was cheaper.  This would have been for about the first two years of my life (I’ll take her word for it).

My brother called chicken “Chickey” until about about the age of four.  My sister had a couple, actually, which were quite cute.  Although she denies it, she mispronounced “Milk” as “Mloke” when she was young and called motorcycles “Bike-l-cycles”.  How adorable is that?

I don’t know what made me take this little path down memory lane, but it was fun.

What about you? What words or phrases did you come up with as a youngster.
