So, one of the two best fits for Supernova left the stage tonight.  With Storm Large gone, Toby had better get picked.  Otherwise, Tommy and the boys had better learn to write better songs, because that lame stuff they’ve written so far needs a GREAT front person to pull them off.  One three dimensional performer left.

So, what about Rockstar - Supernova? Are we happy with who went home? Is this “reality tv” stuff warping our societal collective brain?

I won an mp3 player a few months ago. Its a Sony Network Walkman, model NW-E403.

NW-E403

This model sports 256MB of flash memory (holding 55 mp3s right now) and an incredible 35-50 hours of play on one charge! (no batteries to put in - charges via your USB port). It seems quite easy to navigate and the songs are entirely playable. I like the fact that this unit is quite small but the display is still easy to read. The requirement that you transfer your songs through the provided Sonicstage software is a bit of a drag (Windows only), but it seems to work reasonably well. You can also store files on the player as well, if you want to connect it to a PC and use it that way (but they’re not viewable in the mp3 player’s display). For the price that I got it for, it was great, of course. Now, this unit seems to buck the trend and be less expensive if bought in person. I noticed that the price online was as much as $30 higher than what the local electronics store was selling it for.

This unit also comes in 512MB, 1GB, and 2GB models. If you are intested in this neat little toy, I’d suggest that you shell out the extra $20-30 for the larger capacity.

I received a link in my email to a site where Wierd Al’s Ebay Song was hosted as a flash audio. Its a bit tinny, but its hilarious. Check it out! (the site owner has included the lyrics so that you can sing along)

Its gone from there, but here it is on YouTube.

I just read the latest Michael’s Minutes entitled Unfinished Business - Oboe and I’m impressed once again with the vision of the founder of MP3.com and the Linspire operating system. Michael has been in the “front row at the new technology room”* and has definitely been taking notes. I think that his idea of an online locker that syncs with your other online sources, keeping everything in one convenient indexed spot, where you can snag and play your favorite songs from any web-enabled device, is the way of the future. If this flies, then soon, all the music you’ve purchased will be available wherever you are and you can stream your playlists from any wireless hotspot to your misic player, without plugging it in every now and then to get more from your iTunes or Napster account (but Oboe will also sync with them too). This is almost exciting!

*That’s not a quote. I made it up.

So, I couldn’t stay awake for the finale of Rock Star INXS, but it seems that the Nova Scotia native takes the show. Good for him. We former bluenosers are the best, aren’t we? :P I’m going to have to find a repeat show so I can see the ending. I did see Mig lose out to J.D. and Marty. That man has some serious talent but I do understand the band’s decision. He was not really a fit for them. But, I don’t think that we have seen the last of him. He took the news of not being chosen with dignity and poise. Mig has class - a lot more than I’ve seen by any person, public or otherwise, in a while. Respect to you, Mig.
records…

So, now we just have to wait for the albums…

If you live in the Fredericton/Oromocto area, you should tune in to 92.3FM. Its a new classic rock station that seems to be a tad better than The Fox (you can actually get it in Oromocto clearly). Check it out. I like it.
