My 2005 Nissan Sentra

Here’s what I bought.  Its a 2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8 Special Edition.  I bought it because of its low mileage (66,000kms) and the fact that its only 3 years old, rather than the alternatives that I’ve looked at, which were 5-7 years old.  This is the first vehicle that I’ve owned that has an alarm, so I’ll have to remember that.  Hopefully, it will meet or exceed the EPA fuel economy ratings of 8.4L/100km(28mpg) city and 6.7L/100km(35mpg) highway.  That would be nice.

The air conditioner apparently works, which is good.  It has air bags and a fairly decent CD stereo with an aux input for an mp3 player.  And, it apparently is safe in a crash.

I’ve always loved the colors of the sunset and of the sunrise.  Here’s a picture after sunset that I took last night.

After sunset on the St John river

wet drive

I’ve added a few pictures of the flooding in town tonight.  The Police have closed some roads for safety and the water is expected to rise another metre above sea level over night.  Yikes.  Never say it won’t come close to home, huh? I’ve not added any friendly info yet, but the ones from 00053 and up are from April 30 (today).

The river sure is rising fast this year.  That’s a testament to all the snow that we’ve gotten.  I took a few pictures of Tingley Field, which has a brook running behind it.  These are pictures of where the brook swelled to in the last few days.  Those trees are at the edge of the brook and in the summer time, the water will be 20 feet below them.  The river is about 1000 feet downstream.

(24 April) I’ve added a few from the river tonight as well.

Dell and Ubuntu in CanadaAwesome! I just got my e-flyer from Dell today and I saw a new offering on the ad.  They’re now bringing the Ubuntu operating system to Canada on some of their models! This is great news, as I have been contemplating a laptop purchase and it was going to have Linux on it.  Now, since I like Ubuntu anyways, I won’t have to install it myself.  And all of the machine’s capabilities will be used under Linux, supported by Dell.  Woo hoo!

Check it out:  HERE

Its been reported here and here as well.

This is so good!

I was checking out some of the images from the various webcams in the city and around the province to see how yucky the roads looked after our latest storm (which got the kiddies a day off school) and I saw this pretty image from the camera at City Hall.  It often looks like this in the dark hours, but I’ve never taken a capture.  I just think its a surreal look that needs to be shared.  Hence:

I had to mention this, as I’m sure that its not always or even usually the case for most.

Merry Christmas to our Landlord.  Ever since you bought the building that I live in, you’ve only shown that you want to establish a long term relationship with your tenants through your immediate and continued improvements to the building.  Thank you for doing the unexpected and dropping off a fruit basket to us.  We appreciate this gesture more than you likely think.

Merry Christmas to the team at Friendlier.com, who host this site.  Not only have you instilled confidence in my assessment of your abilities as a host and your forward-looking vision of producing a quality experience for a reasonable price.  You have also proven that you sometimes actually do get what you pay for.  And, thank you for sending a quick email to wish a Merry Christmas to me (and likely your other hostees).  Most of us still do care about the small things and this small gesture has proven that you are looking forward to a long term relationship with your customers by actually paying attention to them once in a while.
