So, in the Atlantic Standard Time zone, its now officially 2010. Welcome to the next year, which promises to be better than the last,’cos I said so!

So, for od and RT Cunningham, who is already 12 hours into 2010, what is it like?

For hari, who is already 10 hours into 2010, what is it like?

For Ray and Richard, who are already 4 hours into 2010, what is it like?

For Diane and Drew, who have still 3 hours left in 2009, what do you think the future holds?

Same goes for Dragonlady, Jeremy, and SeLiNa. How does it feel with 1 hour left in 2009?

BTW, WordPress has a bug with scheduled posts. I intended this to post at midnight and it didn’t. WordPress failed. Boo!. Repost at 12:19am, Jan 1, 2010.]

Boo. Wordpress fails big time. This is a pasted repost of what I already wrote. WordPress fail.

MacBros wants to feel wanted, despite partying it up with his family, knowing full well that he is wanted. So, to avoid having to close comments on this post, I mention him.

Can’t believe you left me out.

Never mind. The new decade looks good.

However, I’m down with a cold and my laptop’s gone for one of its periodic visits to the service center.

I keep telling people that it’s not properly a new year until GMT says it is :) 2010 is much like 2009, except that it’s now the future and I’m about to go out in my flying car (the teleport machine is in for a service).

    Happy New Year!!

@hari – Sorry, hari. I had you in the post, too, but the scheduled post didn’t work (I wrote it a few hours before and set it to post at midnight). I couldn’t get it to post for me, so I wrote a new one and, in my inebriated state, I deleted the old content instead of leaving it up to paste into the fresh post. I have attempted to correct the err of my ways. For those in my own time zone, you don’t get a mention.

What is it like? Same. But anyway, I feel more superior because I’m 12 hours ahead than you all.

    I am, your future.

Quick question for you, sir. Linux-related…

On my mother-in-laws system. It’s an old pc, but it’s not too slow (not agonizingly slow, which is good!). About a month ago, she revisited her old Neopets profile. Ever since then, once in a while, her computer will just totally freeze. Sometimes you can move the mouse, but that’s kind of irrelevant, since even when you can move it, you can’t click on anything. Nothing goes grey, like it’s thinking about something. When this all happens, she has no recourse but to hard reset.

Now, I’m posting this from SeaMonkey just to see if it made a difference (would’ve posted this 4 minutes ago, but as I was typing, the damn thing froze). I’m obviously brought to the conclusion that it’s either Firefox (version 3) or a plugin it’s using.

Ever heard of this behaviour? Since it seemed to have started around the Neopets thing, maybe it’s an inactive flash plugin that’s causing this, but I’m not sure. I’m going to continue to try browsing without even opening up firefox to see if I still get the problem, and I’ll report back if that happens again.

Help me, Corey Wan Kenobi, you’re my only help… at least until I locate the problem through numerous google searches.

Hmm, at the time this posted, I was minutes from finally making it back home following my trip to Mom’s house. Normally would have been a 15.5 hour trip but numerous potty break stops for myself and MiniMe turned it into 17 hours. So both with an hour left, and 41 minutes left I was dead tired and only functioning because of a caffeine OD. LOL

Happy New Year, btw. 5 days later… ;-)

@Jordan – You might have something there. Try starting Firefox in “safe” mode and see if you can reset it from there.

    Hmmm… is still feels like 2009. I think I need a beer.

I’m not sure why WordPress belched out a revision of this post, but I’m glad that it did, as it clued me in to why my database is growing so goddamn fast.

@mrcorey – Here’s my answer from the WordPres dev blog

“After over a million downloads of WordPress 2.9 and lots of feedback from all of you, weâre releasing WordPress 2.9.1. This release addresses a handful of minor issues as well as a rather annoying problem where scheduled posts and pingbacks are not processed correctly due to incompatibilities with some hosts.”

I guess that’s why the post showed up after allwhen I upgraded to 2.9.1.
