My web host moved to a new datacenter with a faster pipe and new servers. You may have noticed that the site wasn’t displaying and, at one point, there was even a 500 error going on. Its all moved, so we’ll see how things go. It looks like the upgrade to WordPress 2.9 that I did in the downtime worked out as well.  I don’t see anything radically different yet, but I’ve not explored it much yet.

I’ve also upgraded my Drupal site. Once I figure out Drupal theming, I may even move this site to Drupal. We’ll see how that goes. From everything that I’ve been reading about it, if you really know how to manage Drupal, you can likely find lots of work in maintaining websites.

They said it would be faster. Apparently, they put the site on a brand new server as well. Too bad they didn’t tell me ahead of the move. I was wondering why I was getting memory errors. I actually filed a ticket with them. That was when they let me know. Not quite THC, but…

Out of curiousity, who’s your host?

@hari – I am hosted with Vivahost. They bought out Friendlier.com, who I originally signed up with. Its pretty cheap at $4.95/mo(USD), which includes a domain renewal every year. They’re nearly as responsive as they were under old management and they seem to have pretty good uptime, overall. I’ve only noticed my site down 3 or 4 times in over 2 years. Today, it was flaky for a few hours and once before it was down for a day when the hard drive failed, but the other one or two times, I didn’t even know about until they emailed me to apologise for the down time (which was 10 or 15 minutes each time).

Thanks MrCorey! That seems a great deal. I use a2host myself and I paid nearly $100/yr in hosting cost (after discount). I will surely consider your host as an option if I want to move…
