Tagged and Bagged: swine flu
I wish that the idiot WHO official who decided to open his mouth to the world had checked the science of his statement. You can’t get the flu from eating meat. Flu travels via air, not flesh. At least a Canadian newspaper is willing to publish a reference to fact. I hope that more follow.
update: It seems that Slate magazine also has some educated things to say about this, too.
How did the first person who got this flu get it?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_swine_flu_outbreak#Initial_outbreaks_in_U.S._and_Mexico suggests that it had been around for a while. but that it had probably been caused by intensive pig farming. So that would suggest that it was pig > human crossover.
As long as you cook your pig correctly, and that should always be done to counteract the many other illnesses you can get from undercooked meat, you will not be at risk from swine flu via cooked food.
Ray is right. Cook appropriately. Of course, if you’re dealing with an airborne illness, don’t breathe it in.
Most of the hype about this flu seems exaggerated. Just one has to stop breathing, that’s all. Such a simple solution and nobody has mentioned it yet :p
Nothing passes as news these days unless somebody is killing or getting killed, somebody is publicly humiliated, or the actual news is over exaggerated in order to put more fear into the public.
Mexico’s health care system is far from adequate. Here, if you start exhibiting symptoms, simply go to the doctor and get a shot and you’ll be fine.
I’d like to see that WHO official publicly humiliated. Perhaps, he could be forced to eat a big feed of pork chops on world wide television.
Officials really need to shut their faces more often and actualy give out the corect information.
By the way, is it CSS naked day again?
Nope. Refresh your browser?
All fine now, most odd
It was a plugin that I was trying. It gzipped the page and a lot of browsers aren’t set up to handle the pages. It didn’t speed things up anyway. This host’s pretty fast most of the time.
