Right now, I am listening on Jamendo and I must say that I like what I hear. You may recall that I wrote about this shortly ago, with a recommendation of Josh Woodward’s The Simple Life album. Tonight, I am listening to Robin Grey - Only the Missile. Thanks to Drew’s recommendation of Ruth Theodore’s album, Robin seems to have found this reference and left a comment, letting us know about his own effort. I am listening now and am totally entertained. The bluesy, folksy tones of his music is a great match with his voice, which ranges from soft and silky to deep and gravelly to raspy (reminds me of on of my favorite beers, Fuller’s London Pride - rich, deep, complex, smooth, with a slight edge, like that gentle uncle that would allow the kids to jump on him and play with him to exhaustion, who would defend their lives with conviction and courage). Thanks, Corey! I’ll make sure to check it out! My suggestion for those who love classical music and streaming radio is to head on over to http://www.1.fm and listen to Otto’s Baroque, Classical, or Opera music!
Okay, time for some constructive criticism! I hate having to say “Yes I am human” all the time for putting down normal words like “music.” Is there a way that wordpress can recognize a specific user from the “name” and “E-mail” field keys and put in an option to demand a password? I would love that setup more than continually having to say “Yes, I am human.” I could have my browser remember the password so it would be no big deal! Not everyone would want this option so it would have to be triggered by a specific commenter. If WordPress can’t do this, can a plugin be written for it?
Or am I just being overly picky? Perhaps…
I think it is the psychological effect that is worse than actually pushing the button. I take it personally.. I want to say to the Wordpress Gods “…what…you don’t know me? I practically live and eat and hang out at Corey’s blog all the time. Why are you making the experience impersonal for me? I don’t appreciate that.” So yes, it is the psychological aspect that gets me and not the mere act of using the mouse to hover over and click on a button!
Sorry, my friend. That whole click issue is because of a plugin that keeps a ton of invalid comments from hitting my site. The verbiage is mostly mine, as the default was really impersonal. Perhaps I’ll take that word out of the list. I put it there, as there was a high occurrence of it with spammy comments. All my visitors should feel honored that I give them the benefit of the doubt and allow them to comment live with self-moderation (as in clicking that button, to prove that your comment is still worthy, despite the spammy word that it contained). Many sites combat spam in a more heavy-handed and less human manner with comment moderation or those inaccessible captchas. I choose this way, as you approve your own comment. “So far, this spam filter has blocked and rejected 44379 spam comments.
New comments that match any of the filter rules specified below will be immediately rejected with an error message.”
So, where are you? Your chat server is down. Are you sleeping? It is late so you should be, as should I.
Did you like the songs?
Still doesn’t stop the human spammers.
If you really want a confirmation, I would place a captcha beside the submit button. It’s a lot better to have to reload an extra page to make a comment. There are really simple chptcha’s out there that arent really hard to read either.
Captcha’s of any kind are a real pain - though I much prefer the maths question to the obfuscated characters any day
By the way, there’s no “s” in Drew’s site name.
Nice catch, Ray. Thanks. Fixed. No captchas. I hate them and so does anyone reading a website in a text reader.
Did anyone listen to the music? This post was music.
Oh I haven’t listened to the songs yet Corey but it is in the queue big time! I can’t stop listening to Ruth Theodore though. haha Currently I have gotten SSF, a Japanese Sega Saturn Emulator to work via Wine so I can’t wait to start a new chapter in my emulation storybook. Oh that sounded corny. I was going to say something else but…
Here’s another good artist I found on Jamendo for what it’s worth: http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/20549
Good to see others like Ruth Theodore as well!
Oh and Robin Grey sounds good, I like so far.
