Tagged and Bagged: flood, Fredericton
I’ve added a few pictures of the flooding in town tonight. The Police have closed some roads for safety and the water is expected to rise another metre above sea level over night. Yikes. Never say it won’t come close to home, huh? I’ve not added any friendly info yet, but the ones from 00053 and up are from April 30 (today).

yeah it floods there every year… still quite high though compared to recent years.
They shut the power off in the city. I went to the web cam section on my site and saw City Hall in the dark. I bet the cops are keeping an eye out for looters, because it’s pitch dark.
I took a couple of screen shots of the web cam. I’ll post later.
They are now saying it will peak Thursday night. Since I’m off tomorrow, I’ll take a stroll downtown and take video and pics.
Anyway, power is off in the center of the city.
I should add, that I’ll be taking my pics from the other side of the river..

I bet those people that payed for them Riverfront Condos are really pissed off right now.
hari, we didn’t get the worst of it, in my opinion. Of course, we seem to get the largest crest, partly due to the river narrowing as it approaches Fredericton and partly due to the being downstream from a major dam. The folks in Maugerville and Sheffield always get it worse, due to their lower elevation (by about 2 or 3 metres) and the flat farmland. If Fredericton looks like a lake, you should see the ocean that is downriver from us. :O
