Merry Christmas to our Landlord. Ever since you bought the building that I live in, you’ve only shown that you want to establish a long term relationship with your tenants through your immediate and continued improvements to the building. Thank you for doing the unexpected and dropping off a fruit basket to us. We appreciate this gesture more than you likely think.

Not only have you instilled confidence in my assessment of your abilities as a host and your forward-looking vision of producing a quality experience for a reasonable price. You have also proven that you sometimes actually do get what you pay for. And, thank you for sending a quick email to wish a Merry Christmas to me (and likely your other hostees). Most of us still do care about the small things and this small gesture has proven that you are looking forward to a long term relationship with your customers by actually paying attention to them once in a while.

Just thought the folks that took over my building would do the same.
I hope that they do and are just saving it for New Years. I’ve ended up quite lucky with this landlord, as this couple have started renovating the building right away. The other two tenants took the opportunity of the changeover to vacate, so Robert and Mitzi renovated the apartments while they were vacant, replacing the carpets and giving them a fresh coat of paint. Robert even spent a few days fixing up the bathroom upstairs, so that its more functional and modern. They insulated and gyprocked the walls in our entryways, which was just bare studs before. Now, its so much quieter on that side of the house. Not only that, but, even though it was too cold to crack fill when he was done, the walls still look 1000 times better than before. He’s going to replace our fridge after getting a carpenter in to shorten our cupboard by about three inches to accommodate a full sized fridge. He’ll be replacing our range hood with one that actually fits our stove. Next summer, new siding all around and perhaps our unopenable but drafty in the winter living room windows will be replaced by patio doors and a patio. He plans to excavate the back yard and extend it back a bit. These folks are thinking about the long term with this property.
I’ve got new windows installed the other week. Much better!
Hopefully that long term outlook doesn’t end up on your rent bill.
I have had nothing but good service from hostnine.com — I didn’t hear about friendlier.com until AFTER you switched. That just goes to show you. Not all of the hosting providers are asshats.
