Tagged and Bagged: CSS, gravatar
I just installed Dougal’s Easy Gravatars plugin. He’s just released version 1.1. Inserting Gravatars into your commenter’s comments is as easy as installing the plugin. It works really well. It was even super easy to move the image a bit with the built in “advanced” feature of being able to add CSS properties into the config page. I’ve decided to go back to using Gravatars because I’ve always liked them, and since they’re now owned and hosted by Automattic, they are blazingly fast, thanks to the gobs of speed and bandwidth they now have at their disposal. This is great!
Yeah! I finally got my Ness on a bike from the infamous SNES Earthbound series!
I’ll keep my SOuth Park avatars. :p
Maybe I’ll install it on my other blogs.
I briefly looked into Gravatars for my blog and never ended up using a plugin, just the URI structure they give you at the site. Two or so lines of PHP, no plugins and it’s the same outcome
Cool - I looked at a few plugins when I implemented them and found that a lot of the plugins had really poor documentation - most were simply “insert code to index.php” but didn’t actually tell you where.
More pics can only be a good thing
I always wondered how they make any money off this gig. Do you know? Because once you register your gravatar, it’s very rare that you return there.
grrrrrrrrr re: not being able to use the word s*i*t*e
oh shoot, i forgot i changed my gravatar to that. Wonder why I chose it…and where the heck I found it…lol.
site site site site site. Skye, you just have to press the button that proves that you’re a human. There’s no need to edit the comment (comment is also a spam word, as is article).
But what if you’re not human? ANd you want to comment on the ’site’?
Are you trying to say I’m not human, mac???
Mac, if you’re not human, then I guess the trap will work. This filter is great, as you approve your own comment if it has a “spammy ” word in it. You don’t have to wait for me to approve it.
Glad you like it
I like it like you wouldn’t believe. If you ask Tom, he’ll tell you that I’ve been a real fan for a long time (I really did start the Wikipedia article that morphed with the Avatar entry). Your nifty plugin and Automattic’s acquisition just made Gravatars so much more fun to put on a blog. If you’ve followed my nutso meanderings over time, you’ve probably noticed that I am not tolerant of services that I don’t have control over the hosting. Look how long it took me to switch to Akismet.
