I would never go for this size on my own as we don’t have a pan large enough for it, but a 16 inch “rising crust” frozen pizza was given to me. Turns out it was just cheese, and our meat-lover friends didn’t want it. By the time I got it home, it was more than 1/2 thawed, so we decided that pizza was on the menu for lunch. We have an apartment sized stove, which is 24″ wide on the exterior. This means that, at most, you have 18″ to work with in the oven.

What I ended up doing is putting the pizza directly on the rack, which I don’t usually like to do, as I prefer a less crunchy crispy crust. But, from experience (vast experience) in making pizzas from scratch, I employed a technique that I use on my home made pies. The trick is to cook your pizza nearly all the way and, with what you think is about 2 minutes left, turn your oven on to broil, hence using only the top element (for electric ovens - pulling the pie out and putting it underneath in the broiling drawer, if you’re lucky and have a gas stove). What this accomplishes is that golden brown “spotting” on the cheese that is a sure sign of a delicious pizza (or lasagne). The crust wasn’t too bad for a prepared product.

This isn’t related to the topic of Pizza (though I do eat McCains deluxe and Kraft Delissio frozen pizza all the time) but your blog was down last night a little after midnight. I was forced to go to mrcorey.com and leave a message! Hope you are enjoying your wonderful vacation!!

Yeah, I’m aware that it was down, and am in the decision process about hosting. I’m not so sure that I want to bother with the rest of my year’s paid hosting. I’ve had less down time with frihost.com (and I’ve kept the account), but I don’t like the idea of “post for hosting”, when I can drop a nominal sum and go from there. So far, I’ve not seen cheap, fast, and reliable in the same host.

By the way, I had some of your masterpieces before the break and forgot to acknowledge that. Good Zaaa, my friend.

Well, your current host is pretty reliable so it is only a pain once in while. But I agree, getting cheap and 100% reliable is a pretty tricky balancing act! As for the pizza, you are welcome! Umm, Pizzaaaaaa (Insert Homer drool here)

The claim is 100% uptime and the result is down once a week for anywhere between 2 and 12 hours. Not reliable.

Ouch!! Okay, that is worse than I thought! It is one of only 2 times that I have personally been denied service so in my mind I viewed it as a once in a blue moon thing!

Well, my last day of work at my pizza place is this upcoming Monday and then I am out of work! That is why I have to start looking for another job! In haste (there is a reason for that) I bought a HP Deskjet F4180 because I need to give a resume to a friend tomorrow!! The problem is I don’t know if it runs in Linux! So if you are bored on your vacation Corey, you can do some research to see if it is Linux compatible and what drivers I need to get it to work!!!

I know you love doing this technical stuff, hence the offer, but don’t, I repeat don’t do it if you don’t want to!!! (Not a request in other words but an offer) Only if you are bored!!
The Staples person said I had 30 days to bring it back but somehow I suspect that not being Linux Compatible would serve as an legitimate reason for a return! Hehehehehee Impulse buying sucks!! I went against my rule! Oh I am blathering on! I think I need my own blog now!

You want the HPLIP driver. Seems to have good support. You should be able to apt-get install hplip

Awesome reply! You are knowledgable beyond your years! The bad news is that the assembly line worker forgot the power cord so I couldn’t even plug it in! Now I have to go back to Staples tomorrow!

Sounds yummy. It got me so hungry I decided to have a spinach pizza that has been in the freezer for what seems like forever. Not sure what demented mind decided to mass produce spinach pizza, but at least I can tell my girlfriend that I had ome vegetables today. I hope it is low in cholesterol as she thinks mine is high. It probably is, but at least I have cut sown on my fried chicken consumption.
