Its the first commercial break after Dave Letterman introduced Regis Philbin on his show. They exchange a bit of banter and the conversation has turned to Dave’s socks. Apparently, Regis is impressed with Dave’s choice of expensive knee-length socks that he’s got his own pair.
Leave it to those two cuckoos to hike up their pant legs and compare. This is where the subtle musical humor comes in. I don’t know how many people got this, but Paul gets the band to start playing “Back in Black.” That’s just too rich! I got it, Paul. You are a true master.
I don’t get a chance to watch that Late Night Show anymore.
Heh. Googling “Paul Shaffer sock” brings this post to the first page of results! LOL.
All they needed was a guest appearance by Judy Carne saying sock it to me!
