In an unprecedented move, I’ve decided to allow comments to appear on this site as soon as you make them.  This means that if you’ve never posted here before, then without having to wait for me to get to approving your comment, it will appear on the site right away.  I’ve decided to do this, as I’ve been using Akismet in addition to my old trusty Bad Behavior 2 for fighting comment spam.  So far, every comment that’s really been spam has either not showed up at all or been caught by Akismet for moderation.  This doesn’t mean that you’ll get away with commenting in an abusive or demeaning way to anyone.  I will still either remove offensive posts or edit the content that I find objectionable.  This is my site, after all.  My rules.  That means try to keep it mature.

So, stop lurking.

I did say, “try.” I really just want to have the mud slinging kept to a minimum, as jello is much more fun!

    Hi, MrCorey,

Your server thinks I’m spamming so I couldn’t comment on your blog earlier. I sent you an e-mail as well.

If I’ve done something wrong to not warrant a response, please let me know. I’m not worried about getting a link in return, but I would like a response as I’m not sure of your reaction to my linking to your blog.

This comment went through, hari. No worries. You were probably caught by Bad Behavior. If you were taken to a screen that told you about it, then that’s what happened. It often happens to those who type quickly and hit submit as soon as they’re done typing. The ticket is to hit submit about 1 second after you finish. That makes the spam catcher not think you’re a robot. All is good.

    MrCorey, thanks for the clarification.

I’m on BSNL broadband connection with dynamic IP so it keeps changing every time I switch it on. I sometimes come across a blacklisted IP address from time to time. Guess the same happened on this blog as well.

I had a black list IP plug-in that was blocking a lot of readers from the Philippines, so I had to get rid of it. A lot of folks share their IP there.

A lot of countries (including the Philippines) have Internet cafes as their primary sources of getting online. That’s why you see so many shared IP addresses from those countries. Even as connected as South Korea is, Internet cafes are more popular there than home connections.

I tried Bad Behavior once. It blocked Hari (above) 30 minutes after I turned it off because I had WP-Cache running. I looked through the logs and there were way too many legitimate people that were blocked in an hour’s time.
