I wish that I had a camera with me tonight. This cute beast is not a pic that I took, but if I had taken a camera with me to the drug store down the road, I could have had pictures that would have made this one look “just okay.” On the walk back, in the fairly dense residential North Side, I came upon two deer. The first one surprised me a bit, being on the walking path in front of me and seemingly fearless. I continued approaching her and she merely stared. I thought that she wasn’t going to move. I didn’t really relish the idea of getting a slash from her hoof if she decided to get scared “a little too late.” She did decide that I was not the best friend she could have and moved off the trail. This was when I noticed her larger “sister.” This one had to be the biggest doe that I’ve ever seen. She was merely watching me walk by from her vantage point in the back parking lot of a local machine shop. It caught me aback a bit, seeing these deer so close to such a busy street as Main. I guess that they usually go down to the river and find their way back to the woods from there. It still amazes me that they don’t meet their maker with the way people drive around here.
Tagged and Bagged: car, cute
Hehe, I no longer have the problem of crossing up with deer. Now it’s more like water buffalo. They make a lot of noise and sneak up on people.
Hubby almost hit a deer the other day or rather it almost hit him. Someone else had apparently hit it right before he came up on it and the poor thing was trying to get up and run off. Fortunately it did make it up and ran into someone’s yard. Not fortunate that it ran off hurt, but at least it got away from the road.
Heh. Must be a deer trend.
I opened up the window this morning and saw two just below my window. I think they were chewing on the hedges.
If my Digital Cam wasn’t broken, I would have snapped a few. Out the front door.
They were pretty big also.
I just saw one of your random pictures of the flooded river. I’m going to go check out my web cam page and have a look from the lighthouse.
