So here’s the new theme. I was going to code from scratch, but I realized that I can read someone else’s code better than I can create my own. Besides, Bartelme had a great design. And, iLemoned ported this great theme so well with clean, readable code. It was hard to resist it, since it was nearly what I wanted (except in the wrong colors to suit me). I’ve always been partial to fall colors, so this theme is Fresh with a total redesign, taking into account the majestic Maple tree. So, I recoded the colors and restyled the images to reflect the inclusion of the colors in the picture that I referred to in this post. So, if you have any issues or concerns with the colors that Mother Nature picked for our majestic Maple tree (genus Acer), please make them known (and then report to Mother Nature for your punishment).

Let me know if you experience any issues with the way this theme renders in your browser. I have tested it with Firefox 1.5.07, 2.0, and 3.0alpha as well as Internet Explorer 6, both here at home and at work, all messed up. It also renders OK in Opera 9. Let me know if you have any problems with this site displaying. It was also tested with Wordpress 2.04 and 2.05 (which I recently upgraded to on this server), as well as 2.1alpha3 on my home server. So far, this site seems to behave as I have asked it to, using PHP4.x and 5.x as well as Apache 1.3 and 2.0. Also MySql 4.xx and 5 seem to make it work with all plugins used to date. There are a few plugins that aren’t behaving with the new MySql versions, so I am not using them.

So, without further adieu, I present you with a Fall color version of Fresh. I hope that you like it. As usual, comments are welcome.

    I like this one Corey.
    The Colors are perfect too.

You should have put your nose right on that RSS image on the right.

I’d make one simple change though. That little Icon on every post beside the date, makes it look like all your posts were done on the 7th. I know it’s supposed to be a colander, but there are better calendars out there that could replace that.

    everything else is fine.

I thought about that, but I want to replace it with an icon that changes with the date, like with the BlueQ theme, so I have more to learn. I thought you were crashing…

It’s possible. All you need to do is use the ‘if’ tag like I did with my comments.

I see that there are a few other things that I need to add here and there, like the previous/future post links at the bottom of post pages. I may add some detail to links to the right as well.

What do you think about a javascript dropdown page menu at the top instead of just limiting the pages displayed in the top bar? I’ve not done it before. Can the responsiveness be controlled so that it doesn’t drop down and stay on the page like some sites?

I figured out the Date thingy. I hacked the post file and made my own images.

It’s actually quite simple! Making the images took longer than the actual hack.

There is no plugin, so you’ll have to hack the code.
