Tagged and Bagged: Site, website
I’ve just linked to the Langa List website and the traffic can be interestingly high. We’ll see what happens. If you get alot of traffic all of a sudden, linked from me, that’s why. You’re welcome.
And, I’ve changed my email contact link here to corey at coreythompson dot com. If you want to send me an email, you can still do so at the new email (and at the old one, if you remember - secret: its a redirect anyways)
You sound very excited about this Langa List thing, but I visited the site, and I just don’t get it. The traffic it’s gonna draw to your site, are they actually gonna make some comments? If not, what’s the point?
Or is this one of those geeky things, like trackbacking, that I’ll never understand no matter how often you try to explain it to me? @-)
You’ll understand this one. Fred Langa has been writing about computers for years and he’s developed quite a following. He wrote for Winmag (now defunct) and is now a regular columnist on the site informationweek.com. He puts out a newsletter with computer tips for the average person about once a week. This newsletter has about 50,000 subscribers and if you “load the code” (which is that little button on the right) and let Fred know, he may feature your website along with about 10 others in the newsletter. As everyone’s curious about what’s out there, they’ll click on the link. Often sites with only a handful of visitors will get 2 or 3 thousand visitors on the day the newsletter comes out. Some will come back if your site has anything worth reading. Its a win-win situation if you want more traffic (or just want more readers).
Don’t think any geeky computer guys are gonna find anything I say interesting…lol. But thanks, I did actually understand what you said :d
