Tagged and Bagged: Site
I’m thinking about changing the site design to something like the Durable theme. I’ll be changing the look tonight, shortly after this warning. Be aware that this is a preliminary, almost mockup, so the final result will be much more polished and the colors aren’t final either. I want to know thoughts, though. Especially, if you’re on dialup, please comment and tell me how long the site takes to load.
I think you should start pay us a fee for all the feedback we keep giving you. Other test marketers pay $25, so anti-up, my friend :p
If I got any, I might consider it. :p
But, seriously, (and you too John), how’s the design. Forget the colors. I can change them. I want a more cohesive layout and I am beginning to think that the normal blog layout is just too hard to read when you have several posts back to catch up on, etc. And, I want a better front page.
YUK, YUK, YUK!!!
*** Off topis Sorry Folks. I’m bargin here! ***
Can ya all read this stuff and comment..??? ****
I want the future that I see to change, goto http://macbros.dnsalias.com/blog/jordan-macdonald-we-have-a-few-life-words-to-share-with-you/
and comment your experience with an adult telling you to not do something…. and regretting it not taking it to heart as agrowen up
Thanks for the feedback, guys. You’re being REALLY helpful. So, what does YUK YUK YUK mean? You don’t like the format? You like the same old boring upside down format of everyone’s online diary? What does it mean?
Actually, I still prefer Hemmingway. I know, Mac, that you don’t like the black site, but I wasn’t referring to the color (and, no it will never look like beer)
BTW, I’ve reset the colors to the original. I don’t like them at all. I do like the format, though. What do y’all think?
A site that is very clear and concise to me is Jennylees site on livejournal.com
http://jennylee.livejournal.com
The clear demarcations between the journal entries with the date highlighed on the top right corner, plus the calendar at the very top giving the birds eye overview of when jenny has posted is very neat. The purple color scheme may not be great but the overall organization is something I like.
It took about 4 seconds for it to come up, but it’s 3:30am and everyone else is in bed. I’ll see if there’s any difference in primetime.
Overall, I like the set up better than the last one. It’s got more of a personalized feel, and less of a sterile one, if you know what I mean…lol.
I like how the most recent post goes all the way across the page to make it stand out, and how the older posts are in columns and are shortened. Though, it was hard to follow which one came before the other right off the bat.
I like the footer, but wish there was a place up higher on the page to put the recent comments. I’ve come to depend on them and really hate scrolling. They encourage me to go look at the comments for older posts that I probably wouldn’t have glanced at otherwise.
I like how each comment has a different color background to make them stand out.
I know you said not to mention the colors, but they aren’t doing anything for me. The combinations suck BIG TIME…lol. So, consult your gay interior designer friend
I checked out the site that Devin mentioned, but that reminded me too much of your typical forum. I vote NO on it.
ummmmmmm…I think that’s enough for now
You’re gonna wish you never asked for comments…lol.
What? Since when is Gay a bad word?
Its on the list that I’ve not edited. When you set up the “politifier”, the list that comes with it take care of that. I guess that GAY is not polite. Hmmm. Maybe I’ll take that one out (its just a text file).
And, I want to thank you for the feedback. I do realize that the colors are a bit sucky, but I changed them quickly with the little “customizer” (options) up top, as any site viewer can. The only difference is that I used it to save as the default (have you seen the orange white and robins egg one that its based off?). I think that I may incorporate some of the design idea with the Hemmingway theme’s ideas. I like the AJAX “drawer” effect for the menu. But, like you, I’m not too sure about the left/right chronology either. And, I like the recent comments up top too, as I’m also lazy.
BTW, if you use IE, you miss out on the fuzzy frost effect.
