Looks like there may be hope for a major industry backlash against one of the enemies of freedom, the CRIA. This CBC article has the story. Its about a split from the CRIA over a commercial radio provision. Its a step. Perhaps the six companies that are opting out of their contract with the devil will open online stores with relaxex or nonexistent DRM and they’ll make more money than ever before from music downloads.
That’s freaking stupid! I’m Canadian, I write a song, it’s Canadian. What the hell does it matter who plays the Guitar, or who recorded it. I’m the damn artist and it’s a Canadian song written by a Canadian artist, wich make it a Canadian song as far as I’m concernd.
I’d be pissed too when these jerks start labeling my art that has my message it it.
What are they gonna do next? Start telling people that a particular song is about suicide jumpers, when in fact the writer is talking about sky-diving? (Hmm nice title, THAT’S MINE! I clame that Song Title!)
So now I have to back up my database again, as proof, in case you write a song for that title.
. I hope that these indie labels start something, as I’m fed up with the cronyism that follows the tinking of the CRIA and its evil counterparts.
Oh, and what’s become of the tax that we’ve been paying on blank recording media (regardless of purpose or content recorded)? Has it ben given to any artists yet? Anyone? Do I hear an echo? This is why I buy directly from the artist at their show, whenever I can. I know that they get it (see my link to the Obsidian Reign site? They cut their own cd’s. They get every penny you give them - how it should be).
Yea really.. I DONT get any of that either! I’m , “NOT A MEMBER!” so I’m not worthy.
I still wright and sell my music, I don’t get a cut of it, and I USE media to record it on. DO I GET A DISCOUNT!!?? FUCK NO!
The media TAX has to go, and the asholes that got the sleep sack with the government in bed need to be hit with the adultry law.. The artist, me, or anybody wanting to record their family reunion need to pay for what?.. A tax because We needed to record a baby’s birth on DVD? A kids first words on CDR? or a family reunion on VCD. Im an artist.
I think these big guns need to unload, because I think its queer to charge a baby being bourn….. If not sick, just becauise you think the world is ripping you off. That’s just shelfish…..
