Often a film succeeds because of the story, or the writing, or the cast, or the direction. HEIGHTS succeeds brilliantly because of the combination of all of these elements in one of the finest films of the past few years.
What a refreshingly depressingly good movie! Heights depicts a story “Spanning twenty-four hours, Heights follows five New Yorkers challenged to choose their destiny before the sun comes up the next day“ This film unravels a complex and intertwined relationship between all the characters involved. They seem not to have anything in common at first, but, as the story is told, their bonds show. This is not a happy film, but it is a good story. I’m not going to reveal the plot, as it’d be a spoiler to reveal anything. I’ll leave it to you to judge.
