This is disgusting! Microsoft is changing the way web content will be viewed in IE as a result of losing a lawsuit from Eolas over a small object tag that makes our lives easier online. The COO of Eolas says that Microsoft didn’t have to change anything.  All they had to do was licence the use of their claimed innovation! Nobody’s gonna say, “BLACKMAIL!” are they?

This guy’s an idiot if he thinks that he can mess with the master of litigation for profit!  Microsoft will come up with a new and better standard that Eolas can’t sue their way into a profitible position over.  They make Microsoft look like an angel of a company (Eolas is worse than SCO).

I read the article, but dont get it. Are they going to make it so you have to click on media plug-ins to view them or not?

The answer is YES. The new update to IE will recognize the code in the page and prompt the user to click on the embeded content in order to view it. This looks like it will affect activeX stuff the most.

    That’s just STUPID!
What’s wrong with just having the user set the browser to prompt before running plug-ins? And then us lazy people don’t have to click that extra time to view content.
