I had to take offence at this CBC story, as I don’t believe in the reasoning behind Manitoba Liberal Leader Jon Gerrard’s comment

“In many places, these dikes are not even connected. There are many gaps,” he said. “The dikes apparently are dissolving like sugar after a rain, and many, many cottage owners are complaining about what happened. You blew it, Mr. Premier.”

Now, please tell me why the government should be subsidizing these cottages built where no humans should obviously be wintering? This is as atrocious as the insurance that the US government gives to the people in the Florida Keys, who don’t have a reason to live in a place where nature isn’t trying to kick them out! Call me heartless, but this is ridiculous. Canada’s huge and barely populated. There are other, safer, places to build! C’mon!

Hell Mac! I didn’t read the article and I know what he’s talking about LOL. Don’t need to know the facts to understand it. It’s like people that get flooded by a certain river around here every year and every year they get on tv bawling, saying well, it’s our home, we’ll rebuild. KMA idiots.

Ok, now I have to agree with you on that article.
One word to them is all they should get, and that word is, “Move.”
