As you may have noticed, occasionally I mention that I use and prefer Linux over Windows. Partly its because I’m a geek. Partly its because I feel safer using it. Everybody has their reasons for doing things. As Jeremy Garcia says in a recent post to his weblog, you’re not stupid just because you’re a Windows user (for those of you who are stupid, I’m sure that Microsoft didn’t make you that way!). I have to agree with him when he says that we, as the minority of computer users that actually care about what’s under the hood, should not belittle our fellow computer users just because they use Windows (face it, the operating system pisses them off enough, without you helping).
I’ve never quite figured out what it proves to belittle someone simply because they want to use their computer for games and surfing the net without ever looking at a batch file or shell script. That’s like everyone who knows how to fix their own car sneering at everyone else who just drives theirs. Where’s the sense in that? Whacked, it is! Whacked!
