Unlike many of those evil spammers out there who try to maipulate search rank, I’ve earned mine legitimately, through SEARCHING. This post is more for me than anyone, but if there are any people new to the web, they can use these stats as a guide. Seems that on Google, “another opinion” brings my blog page up on page 1 (8th) and my name, “Corey Thompson” brings me up 1/2 way down page 5, which is really good, since there is a gentleman in Indiana with the domain name (coreythompson.com) who has paid for better submissions, as well as a professor and a famous college football star who have been on the web for much longer. This domain is new for me, as of Dec 18, 2004, when I transferred my site to xmgfree (which as a term brings me up #4 on page 1). Unfortunately, because I expressed displeasure with being let go from RMH, that along with NCO bring a post from my blog up on page one as well. You’ve gotta take the bad with the good. That just shows that people are often looking for confirmation of bad news (or they’re looking for dirt on their employees, which I’ve addressed in an earlier post, which was found, by hte way, by the search term “nucomm blog”, which is curiously not on google’s search now, but my response to it is #1 (hmmm). MSN search has me on page 2 for my name and the first 8 pages with “another opinion” don’t bring anything. Intersting. And, of course, the work-related search terms bring me up as the number 1 hit. I should get some advertisers! Yahoo search has me 1st on page 2 today searching under my name (yay - how I wanna be found). “Another opinion” brings me up as result 47. The work-related searches don’t bring me up until page 3 or later (even refers to my old blogspot blog for one term). Well, that was fun. Any more than this, and its getting geeky and boring. So, there is proof that you can be found on the net. How about that.
