I was going over my site stats today and noticed that in the top 10 search terms, there was the term

nucomm blog

Methinks that someone is trying to find out if their company is being badmouthed. Why else would such a search term come into someone’s mind? I know that there are a lot of people out there who may be loose-lipped about their company’s information, but I think that you’re gonna find that the info about NuComm on this site is pretty sparse. As a matter of fact, if you want to save yourself some searching, go to the company’s home page and use the search engine there. Its an amazing site, and why not? Real Bergevin is a genius after all! Whoever you are, please feel free to continue reading my insightful musings and click on all the ads you see (if I decide to cheapen myself and look for that type of revenue). Cheers, and welcome to my site ;)

i found this by searching for “nucomm blog”. Why? Curiosity. I work in the St. Catharines site. I will not disclose what I do there(it’s not on the phone) but I was certainly not looking to see if NuComm was being badmouthed. I was curious to read other people’s opinions regarding NuComm and call centres in general. I have only read one negative comment during my brief searching which is a pleasant surprise :)

Thanks for visiting, Dan. I hope that you come back from time to time. One can never be too careful when blogging and talking about one’s employer. I basically posted about this search term because I think that I have read the negative comment that you read too. That blogger got fired, if that’s the same person (she definitely violated some serious NDA issues). Heh, if you look waaaay back (try a post imported from Blogger), you’ll see that I didn’t keep quiet about how nasty the last call center I worked at was.

Now, perhaps this is a great time to link to a great book, which I am reading now: 23 Steps Go buy it, readers. Then you can open your own call center! :-)

I got lots to say negative bout Nucomm.
Was a great organization & very family orientated in the beginning but now it is a sad state of affairs.
In the SSM office, they are just looking for ways to suspend &/or terminate.
Gotta watch your back if your maxed out cuz they can get a minion at $10/hour to do your job.
The funny thing is that the labour damand market will surely soon stagnate because there are more jobs in SSM as compared to 4 years ago.
They’ll get students that only wanna stay cpl months & go off to school & those that want a longer term will go to the higher paying Sutherland or the less stressful environment at Cross Country.
As you probably can tell here, I am no longer employed there but these are not rantings of a disgrunted past employee….these have been my feelings about the company for a year or so.
Ever since the scare of union possibilities, mgmt in SSM (not all of them) got anal & started the slap downs to a point of almost bullying the cae.
If ever they need a union would be now & if the U.S.W. was smart they would start canvasing in the near future.
I think they would get a better response now.
    Real…take back the reins!!!

administrator’s note: sorry about not approving this comment sooner…I’m not used to visitors who actually respond. Although I have no reason to agree with the poster’s comments, in the interest of fairness, I feel that there should be balance here. After NCO/RMH, any call center is awesome, though…

I have to admit, that we frequently search blogs with Nucomm. We love to see who else works with us, what weird creatures are out there that work in our other sites, and if we know anyone. The number one reason we do it though…………..BOREDOM……We are big Nucomm fans here……..we love the place…..more so the friends we have made over the years…..benefits and of course we really do like our management in this office……the genuinely care…….I don’t know about the other sites….but this one does…….we are lucky to have this place…..

Good luck in your new job!

    11
  12. MacBros says:

CBGNucomm, I wish I was in the same center as you because , unfortunately, most ppl here in the OMO site arent as happy. I know there are clients with Nucomm that are fun to work, but the ones we have here are not.
I’m stuck on one that you can’t get off of, or ask to go to another one. The only way you can is if you quit and come back.

I myself have been an employee of Nucomm for almost 5 yrs and no other place has ever treated me so well.. no I am not in management I am on the phones as well.. and some of the negative comments left really irk me…
First off if you do not like your job where you have incentives galore in your campaign which I know which one you are talking about that you can not get out of unless you quit then just quit and not be negative about a place that lets you make more money than most places would for people without a university degree.
You get great benefits! you sit on your butt on your day and take calls.. how hard is it??
plus you can qualify for a raise if you don’t go over your attendance days.. I think some people need to sit back and realize how great they actually have it and stop complaining!!
You can’t get fired for making more money than new hires..
You can get fired for hanging up on people, being rude, hanging up on any call w/o reason, not coming to work (which they still give you three warnings), swearing or being degrading it takes a lot to get fired from NuComm so I have no clue what some of you are talking about… Just some things to thing about!! Yah sure it gets hard to listen to people yell at you but that is customer service.. you don’t like it.. than leave and it seems that the ones that have the negative comments for the most part are those who got themselves fired in the first place..
I am done my novel for now. (*) ;)

  16. Corey says:

Wow! A year later, and this post still gets the comments! Obviously working at NuComm brings out the best and the worst in people. The short story is that its still a call center job and that’s what it is. Call center jobs aren’t for everyone.

B-unit: I see that you like working for NuComm. I can be sure that youv’e never transferred to the Oromocto site. If you worked there, then you’d realize that the happy fun culture that you are used to would dissolve into thin air. I think that because the site was already set up “turnkey” with stations, etc, attention was not paid to it as closely as necessary. Also, I think that because there was a fairly experienced workforce to get employees from, this was a great and easy way for NuComm to expand the company in a time of need. I think that this competence and self-sufficiency led the powers that be to think that everything would be okay at Oromocto if they ignored the site, as if it was a deserted island.

Do you know what its like to be told that you’re joining a fun and happy family, only to be shunned as the great clydesdale, who puts in a great effort, only to be rewarded with more work, instead of a nice hug from the “family?”

I write this comment after I left the company, being let down for the final time. I am sure that you are being treated well in whatever site you’re at, but those in OMO are not faring as well, left on the deserted island, with management knowing they will get the job done, regardless of how they are mistreated and ignored. The OMO site produces great results but the employees are not made to feel like they belong to a great “family”, which was the drawing card for this company. I bet Real would be disappointed about employee moral at OMO, if he had a few weeks to spend there.

Don’t get me wrong. I had some good times at NuComm, but they weren’t enough, when they all of a sudden changed the rules on a certain campaign and your job was in danger, regardless of the fact that you’d been performing at acceptable levels for a year. That’s an insult of great magnitude. “Sure, you’ve done a great job for a whole year, but now that same effort is substandard. You’re written up! Take a suspension! We know you need the money, so we’ll take the work out from under ya, but not fire ya for several months!”

Can you see how the cider turned to vinegar?

  17. Disgruntle says:

b-unit must be one one of them campgains and centers that have all the people wining about having nothing to do between calls. I bet that they don’t have to remember 3 paragraphs of legal garbage to read to their callers before they even ask what the customers reason for calling is. I bet they don’t get suspended for leaving out one word of the 3 paragraphs.
I bet they don’t work in a building that is not a healthy environment and has a constant and drastic change in temperature that goes from freezing to very hot dozens of times throughout the day.
I bet I would enjoy working for NuComm if the campgains were reversed. You can have the encentives, that is if you can jump that high to reach their minimums. Because they’re not worth the bs that comes with them.
So b-unit, if you want to have it as good as we have it (As you think we do) put in a request to switch.

    Hey again,
I do have a life.. It just pisses me off to see such negative comments about a company that is moving forward and yes I am on a campaign that if you forget to do what you call “rules” of call flow than you do get written up and so on.. Policies are for all calls in the company and there are rule you must follow on every campaign.. including verifying/surveys/upselling and all that it just a job though so really why bitch about it.

So far, my YEAR OLD POST has had one “on topic” reply. Everyone but Dan is violating my TOS/Privacy Policy. Let me remind all that I am STILL BLOGGING and todays comments deserve consideration.

b-unit, I appreciate your cheerleading, and I believe that you really do like your job. I’ll pass that along to Real the next time I email him (yes, he returns your emails - he’s quite charming), but I want to remind you, and all who end up at this OLD post, that NOBODY WILL READ YOUR COMMENTS if I disable the “recent comments” plugin. NOBODY WILL KNOW WHAT YOU WROTE if I do that. I will be the only one who knows.

Just a friendly reminder that there are subjects of importance that are being written about today.

By the way, everyone, if you use the same email twice, your witty comments don’t have to wait for me to see that you’re stuck in my moderation que.  Remeber that this site collects your email address for that purpose (and only for that purpose).  Its so I can catch the spammers and so that you don’t have to wait twice to get published.
