I wonder what the current cost of raisinga child is supposed to be these days. I was told that it was supposedto be $10000 a year. I don’t know if this is true or not. I have to support a family of four on not much more than twice that and it is tight, but we manage (barely). I cannot complain, though, as we have two computers in our house, whereas many families don’t have even one. Butof course, my wife and I are homebodies, so we don’t spend our money on other things that many people do. It evens out after all.

I was just thinking, though, about why children cost so much to raise. I wonder if the “breakage” factor has been calculated into the equation. If so, than the cost will rise by a big factor. I’m thinking of the cost of todays toys. How can so many people justify buying an iPod, for example, at $500 a piece? What happens when they drop it and the hard drive stops? It happens, folks! I lost a hard drive in my PC because the tower was knocked on its side. Yes, one of the kids did that. They also destroy the keyboards on mine with frequency. That is why I mosey on down to my friend, Kevin’s shop and get a “new” USED keyboard for my computer. There’s no sense in me investing $20-40 in a keyboard that will be trashed in a few months. $0.99 is much better! Until I break them of it, I will replace what they break! Now, my mouse is on the fritz for the same reason - one decided to make it bounce off the other’s head. What was Atilla’s philosophy? So, a new keyboard with a working spacebar and a new optical mouse are on the list, right after the necessities, regardless of whether I wanted to replace them or not.

Seems that the ads to the left track the content of the page, rather than the titles of each entry. Interesting…….feel free to click on them and make me rich!
